Treatment Options

Our physicians offer the most advanced treatment techniques available and perform surgery only when all other measures fail.

Conservative treatment techniques
Whenever possible, the anesthesiologists and physiatrists at Ingalls Spine Center rely on non-invasive and minimally-invasive approaches to relieve back and neck pain. Some of the most progressive non-surgical treatment options available today are offered through Ingalls Spine Center, with treatment plans individualized for each patient.

Surgical treatment options
Ingalls Spine Center offers the most advanced surgical treatments available anywhere for a full range of spine disorders including degenerative conditions, spinal cord tumors, osteoporosis, and back and neck pain. Minimally-invasive techniques such as the X-stop procedure, lumbar fusion, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty reduce risks associated with treatment and eliminate painful symptoms. And, microsurgery and complex surgery procedures provided through the Spine Center offer patients the most advanced treatment options available anywhere.

Dedicated pain management specialists
Pain management specialists at Ingalls use a variety of innovative procedures to diagnose the cause of your pain and determine the most appropriate treatment. With the help of a team of healthcare professionals, patients progress through a continuum of therapies, including epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, implantable devices and more, until the desired result is attained.

Comprehensive therapy and rehabilitation
Our outpatient physical and occupational therapy is available in many locations including the Ingalls Family Care Centers in Flossmoor and Tinley Park, ICOR in Calumet City, the Wellness Center in Homewood, and in the patient's home. Other conservative treatment options include injection therapies, nucleoplasty, behavioral medicine and percutaneous neuromodulation therapy (PNT), a recently FDA-approved therapy to deliver electrical stimulation directly to the deep tissues near the spine in order to reach the nerve pathways that can affect pain.

Complementary medicine
In partnership with Ingalls Wellness Center, we provide complementary medicine to offer patients relief from pain, increased flexibility, an alternative to surgery or a supplement before or after surgery. Our services include yoga, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, reflexology and aromatherapy.
