A first in Illinois
Deep lamellar endothelial keratoplasty Thomas John,
M.D., an opthalmologist and corneal specialist on staff
at Ingalls, is the first doctor in Illinois to perform a
revolutionary new type of corneal transplant surgery
called deep lamellar endothelial keratoplasty. This new
procedure has several advantages over traditional
corneal transplant surgery, such as decreasing
the risk of rejection from the donor cornea.
