Ingalls Development Foundation
For more than 78 years, employees, individuals, businesses
and organizations have helped Ingalls Memorial Hospital
maintain its standard of clinical excellence by contributing
funds for equipment and programs.
The Ingalls Development Foundation (IDF)
sponsors a number of fundraising events and programs that bring in
approximately $1.6 million in donations every year.
Your generosity helps Ingalls to continue delivering the highest
level of care in your neighborhood. Review our list of events and
programs below.
Maureen Meyers Dance - February
Every year, the Nursing Scholarship Dance in Memory of
Maureen Meyers is held to raise funds for the continuing
education of our nurses and nursing students.
Benefit Show - June
Our most popular event, the annual Benefit Show features
today's music and screen stars. Proceeds go to support Ingalls
Memorial Hospital and its satellites. Previous guests have
included Jay Leno, Chicago, Kenny Rogers and Bill Cosby.
Ingalls/Radisson Star Plaza Golf Outing - July
The Ingalls/Radisson Star Plaza Golf Outing funds various
programs at Ingalls.
"Fall Into Fashion" Fashion Show - September
This annual show features the latest fashions from Michigan
Avenue. It raises funds to provide mammography services
to low-income women in the South Suburbs.
Desser Memorial Garden
Richard K. Desser, M.D., was a practicing oncologist who
died of cancer at the age of 52. Dr. Desser was continually
inspired by the beauty of nature. Through IDF, Dr. Desser's
family and friends dedicated an on-site garden to his memory.
It is their hope that it will be a place of peace and solace for
all "to take time to smell the roses." Donations are used to
maintain the garden.
Maternity Suite Quilt
Family and friends can honor the birth of a child by
contributing to the Maternity Suite Quilt. For a $25
contribution, a child's name will be added to a quilt.
These quilts are displayed throughout the maternity floor.
Wall of Honor
The Wall of Honor was created to allow special
acknowledgement of our many significant donors
including individuals, businesses, organizations and
foundations. Located in the main lobby of the hospital,
the Wall of Honor has four areas of recognition:
• A historical portion to honor past significant contributors
• A partners portion to recognize friends today whose
generous support continues to help Ingalls
• A medical staff portion to acknowledge the
contributions of individual physicians and medical groups
• A Foundation Society portion to show appreciation for
those who have provided a planned gift, by will, trust,
annuity, insurance, stocks or bonds
April Showers Bring Marian's Flowers
Marian Peters spent her life helping Ingalls become the
leading hospital in the area. During her 33 years of service,
she exemplified the ideal for commitment, compassion and
character. Marian's family and friends have established a
fund in her memory to support Ingalls employees seeking
certification in their specific job.
